Think names like Tropika, KFC and Cell C. All brands that have realised the ability mobile has to engage an audience and make them stand up and take notice, with 7DKS providing the advertising experience, creative innovation and technical know-how
The truth is, mobile isn’t just the future, it’s the now. Think about what your computer does and what a smart phone - Blackberry, Android, iPhone - can do: Watch movies, browse the web, watch tv, send and receive email, navigate, get the weather. It’s all in the palm of your hand. Even the cheapest entry-level cellphones have internet access.
So while the rural population might not have access to ADSL and computers, they have cellphones. And according to stats from past campaigns, they’re in the top percentage of people making use of these mobisites.
Which means not only are you reaching the crowd that can afford smart phones, but you’re tapping into a market that is alienated by your typical website.
Ryan Gandalf van Jaarsveld, MD of 7Dffrnt Knds of Smke explains, “Most mobile agencies are 100% tech focused. They’re approached by the creatives to put something together. At the end of the day that results in the project being too technical and complicated for the user.
Companies know the potential of mobile, but the stuff that’s been done in the past doesn’t marry the tech with the creative seamlessly. That’s what 7DKS is all about: we’re a full service ad agency but we have the technical know-how too.” Ryan brings in years of mobile experiences with companies like Wizzit Bank (the first ever mobile bank) as well as Cellsmart and partner Neil Clarence comes in with the mind of a creative genius, with 14 Loeries under his belt.
“Bringing ninja chops and karate sandwiches”
Companies know that mobile is the way forward – so what are they doing about it? That’s where Ryan Gandalf van Jaarsveld comes in; presenting to delegates exactly what happens when you bring the left and right side of the brain together to create something spectacular. Delegates at conferences like BuzzCity conference 2010 and 2011 and the Social Networking Summit have enjoyed the pleasure of seeing one of his presentations (and will be again in February 2012), and Jeremy Maggs invited him to talk on his show, Maggs on Media.
